Is this milk lactose-free or dairy-free?
Pioneer Pastures Protein Shakes are lactose-free, not dairy-free. They're made with real dairy milk from ancestral A2 cows, with the lactose removed. You still get the full protein, calcium, and nutrition of real dairy, just without what causes discomfort.
What is A2 Protein?
A2 beta-casein is the original protein found in cow's milk. A genetic mutation in some dairy herds produced A1 beta-casein, which breaks down differently during digestion and is linked to the discomfort many people associate with dairy. Pioneer Pastures sources milk exclusively from A2 cows, so A1 was never part of the milk.
What is ultra-filtration?
Ultra-filtration passes milk through a fine membrane that concentrates the protein and removes most of the natural sugars. The result: 30g of protein per serving with just 2g of sugar, and zero grams of added sugar. Same real dairy. Better nutrition.
